Local treasures and events

Keep an eye on this page to find out about some of our favourite activities, to learn about any special events or for seasonal updates.

We want you to make the most of your stay, and so we'll share some of the venues, restaurants and activities that make this a special part of the Bay of Islands.

Jewel of the North

Local fare

We love our on-site cafe as a daytime eatery: Santeez offers a $15 breakfast special for our guests, cooked or continental, with a complimentary tea or coffee. Another favourite is the Rock Salt Bar & Restaurant - very hospitable, with a great bar and stonegrill. For evening dining try Cilantro for food cooked with love: an intimate, elegant setting with courtyard dining only two minutes walk from the motel.

Events

Keep an eye on here at The Centre for listings of what's  going on at Kerikeri’s main performance venue.

Bay of Islands Arts Festival 2010

As major sponsors of Bay of Islands Art we commend the fantastic organisation of this year's festival commencing Friday 29 January through to Sunday 28 February. From concerts at The Centre Kerikeri and The Domain to a street parade and carnival of gymnasts and dancers, this year's program includes 20 performances from New Zealand and international acts. Check out the programme on line at BOI Arts Fesitval 2010.

Favourite tours

Experience the richness of the Bay of Islands heritage with a tour of the area customised for you – take in the historic Stone Store   and the iridescent Rainbow Falls, enjoy the rich chocolate of the Makana chocolate factory or step back in time to Rewa Village – a reconstructed Maori village that captures that atmosphere of pre-European times.

Another favourite among our guests is the wineries tour, a flexible trip around local vineyards including Marsden Estate, Cottle Hill winery and Ake Ake Vineyard - sample their wines and enjoy a meal – take your time, these tours are designed to suit you.

Email info@kerikeritaxis.co.nz for more about their tours, or ask Kaye and Ian at reception to help organise one for your party.

Sunday’s in Kerikeri

Don’t forget the Farmer’s Market every Sunday, where all local producers sell their wares – be it fresh fruit and vegetables, specialist teas or locally roasted coffee. Then relax over a long Sunday lunch with live music at the family-run restaurant Food at Wharepuke.

Indulgence

Heaven... just a short distance along the road is Body Divine, a boutique studio offering a great range of treatments for men and women, from facials to manicures and massage, also catering for wedding parties.
